College Bound Initiative

Hello,
I hope you are all enjoying the school year at JMC. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Alex Hitch and I am the college counselor at Juan Morel Campos. I am looking forward to working you and your family through the college and financial aid application process.
A bit about myself: I received a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Richmond and went on to earn my Master’s Degree in Translation and Interpretation from Spanish to English from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Before coming to JMC, I worked with college access and awareness organizations in New York and Washington, D.C.
As the Director of College Counseling at JMC, my primary responsibility is to promote college awareness and to help all JMC students and families through the college process: From applications to matriculation. Throughout the year, I meet with students individually and in small groups to create college lists; we take college trips to experience a college campus; we organize a JMC college fair for all grades to meet with college reps; and we connect current students to JMC alumni who are in college or a career to demonstrate success after graduation.
The college office is here to help students achieve their personal and educational goals, as well as provide support for parents/guardians.
We look forward to working with you and stop in anytime to discuss your future college/career.
